Nexus One to Be Available in Stores

Finally, it was admitted by Google that the online-only availability of its handset known as the Nexus One was a real failure. As a matter of fact, the company planned not to bring the mobile device like it was last year.

One should mention that the Nexus One
is considered to be the first physical product that was developed as well as sold. Actually, the company did not want to get in the mess with retail logistics as well as distribution. For that reason it was decided to offer the Nexus One only online. It could be availed through the Google’s proprietary Web store.
As a result, the sales did not take off. Customers had to decide whether they should pay a full price of the handset or they can avail it but with a 2-year T-Mobile service contract.
According to Andy Rubin, although the Android platform adoption of the world has exceeded the expectation of the company, the Google’s web store has not. It looks like it is a niche channel which is used for early adopters, but it is understandable that before buying a handset, quite a big number of customers would rather have a hands-on experience.
Recently, the Nexus One made its debut abroad. European customers can purchase the handset in Vodafone retail outlets. According to Google, the model will soon follow in the US. So it is expected that the mobile device will be offered at -Mobile stores and probably other mobile retailers.
What concerns the online Nexus One store, it will be shut down
