Nokia is a Leader and RIM Gains Its Position




The quarterly statistics was revealed by a market firm known as International Data Corp. It shows the situation of the worldwide mobile phone market. According to
the data, Nokia is still the leader of the market, while Samsung and LG follow the company. Actually, you will not be able find a big difference when you look at the table of the top three players.

But you will find that things are changing if we go down. RIM takes the fourth position. In fact, it is the first time for the company when it managed to join the top 5 list since its existence. Sony Ericsson holds the fifth position. As a matter of fact, the company’s sales dropped. RIM has sold 10.6 million of its BlackBerry devices during the first quarter of 2010. The figure exceeds the total amount of handsets that were sold by Motorola and Sony Ericsson altogehter. When it comes to Motorola, one should say that you will find it on the fifth position. RIM is going to release its BlackBerry 6 OS this year which will probably help the company strengthen its position.
Also it was revealed that that in the first quarter of 2010 the market of cell phones increased by 21.7 percent. Nokia is holding the leading position which managed to sell 107.8 million phones. As for Samsung, the company sold 64.3 million units, while 27.1 million handsets were sold by LG that take the third place.
During the first quarter of 2010, 294.9 million cell phones were sold. As a result, we can notice the increase of 21.7 percent
